Integrative & Somatic Psychotherapy

Initial: 90min - AUD $185

Follow-up: 60min - AUD $115 / 90min - AUD $165

This session is recommended if you’re looking to address past wounds, trauma, or long-standing relationships and emotional patterns.

Modern research shows that trauma and early relational experiences are stored in the body and nervous system. This can show up as ongoing tension, chronic stress, difficulty regulating emotions, or feeling stuck in patterns such as over-functioning, anxiety, shutdown, or reactivity.

These experiences may also give rise to coping mechanisms and behaviours that, over time, may prevent you from feeling at ease, connected, and fully engaged in your life and relationships.

Initial sessions focus on gently exploring your emotional, mental, and relationship patterns, how your body holds and responds to stress, and the ways you’ve learned to cope.

From there, we define a therapeutic path tailored to your unique needs and goals that supports emotional regulation, body awareness and reconnection, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Depending on what’s most supportive for you, this may involve a specific psychotherapy modality, gentle experiential and somatic techniques, kinesiology, or an integrative blend of approaches.

Kinesiology

Initial : 90min - AUD $185

Follow up: 60min - AUD $115 / 90min - AUD $165

Decode the messages your body carries. Kinesiology uses gentle muscle monitoring as a form of biofeedback to "bypass" mental chatter and identify where your body is holding stress.

It can help pinpoint stress, unresolved emotions, or limiting beliefs, even when you feel you have no words or can’t quite explain what’s happening inside.

It’s also valuable to explore the metaphysical or symbolic meaning behind signs and symptoms. For example, understanding how neck tension might reflect bracing against responsibility, stress, or emotional burden. This insight can deepen awareness and support lasting change.

In these sessions, we work experientially with your body and energy system to release what no longer serves you, restore balance, and support your body’s natural healing ability. This process can also highlight areas where lifestyle, mindset, or nutrition may be affecting your wellbeing, and appropriate referrals can be made if needed.

Sessions may include muscle testing, acupressure, flower essences and essential oils, sound therapy, and specific guided relaxations tailored to your needs. You remain fully clothed and lie down comfortably while we work together to bring your body and energy into alignment.

I hold a Diploma of Kinesiology (RTO-registered) and a Diploma of Mind-Body Medicine from the College of Complementary Medicine, bringing professional training and holistic expertise to every session.

FAQ'S

+ What is Somatic Psychotherapy?

Somatic Psychotherapy views the mind and body as a deeply interconnected single system. It recognises how stress, overwhelming experiences and trauma can affect our bodily sensations, emotional and nervous system responses. It can help us develop greater awareness of these responses, process difficult experiences and support nervous system regulation.

Techniques Used in Sessions:
Grounding & Mindfulness:
Bringing attention to physical sensations, such as feeling your feet on the floor, to help you feel more present and settled.

Tracking sensations and the felt sense: Tuning into bodily sensations associated with an emotion, situation or relationship. As you explore these sensations, related emotions, memories or insights may emerge, helping you process experiences that may still be affecting you.

Movement & sensory-based strategies: Using movement, posture, touch or sensory input to support nervous system regulation and body awareness.

Breathing: Exploring breathing technique to support regulation.

+ What is Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) ?

DBT is an evidence-based approach that is designed for people who experience intense emotions, feel overwhelmed by stress, struggle with impulsive reactions or find relationships difficult to navigate. It may be particularly useful if you have difficulty regulating your emotions, managing conflict, setting boundaries or coping with uncertainty and distress.

DBT-informed strategies can also support people experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional sensitivity or recurring relationship patterns. The focus is on developing practical skills to better understand your emotions, respond to challenges and build more balanced, fulfilling relationships.

DBT focuses on four key areas:
Mindfulness:
Becoming more aware of your thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations without automatically reacting to them.
Emotional regulation: Understanding your emotions, recognising triggers and learning to manage intense feelings.
Distress tolerance: Developing practical ways to cope with difficult emotions and stressful situations without making things worse.
Interpersonal effectiveness: Communicating your needs, setting boundaries and navigating conflict and relationships more effectively.

The approach can be adapted to your individual needs and integrated with other therapeutic methods as part of counselling or psychotherapy.

+ What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely researched and trusted therapeutic approaches used today. It focuses on helping you become aware of the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that shape your day-to-day experience.Often, we carry distorted thinking patterns that developed in response to past events — patterns that can quietly fuel anxiety, depression, low self-worth, perfectionism, or unhelpful coping mechanisms. CBT gives you practical tools to identify and challenge these thoughts, shift your perspective, and create new, healthier responses.

For example, if you don’t success at a job interview, your mind might jump to thoughts like “I’m a failure” or “I’ll never find work.” These thoughts can leave you feeling discouraged, anxious, or stuck — and make it even harder to keep going.

CBT helps you catch these automatic patterns, challenge them with evidence, and replace them with more realistic, balanced, supportive beliefs like: “One setback doesn’t define me. I have skills and strengths, and other opportunities will come.”

Similar to NLP, this model underscores that it is our interpretation of situations, rather than the situations themselves, that generate distress and unproductive behaviours.

CBT is highly effective for a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, stress, phobias, trauma-related symptoms, obsessive-compulsive behaviours, and low self-esteem.

It’s also useful for managing anger, improving sleep, and overcoming unhelpful habits or negative thinking patterns.

Because CBT focuses on practical skills and changing the way you think and respond to situations, it can help you build resilience and better manage everyday challenges. By learning CBT skills as part of your long-term care, you’ll gain tools to break unhelpful cycles and create healthier, more supportive ways of thinking and behaving.

+ What is Internal Family System (IFS)?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a powerful and evidence-based model of psychotherapy that helps you understand and heal the different “parts” of yourself.

We all have different inner parts — like the inner critic, the perfectionist, the people-pleaser, the angry part, the anxious child, the avoider, or the part that just wants to give up. These parts are not bad or broken; they each have a purpose and developed to protect us in times of stress, trauma, or emotional pain.

But when these parts take over or are in conflict with each other, we can feel overwhelmed, stuck, reactive, or disconnected from our true self.

IFS helps you gently get to know these inner parts with curiosity and compassion — instead of judgment. As you build trust with them, you begin to understand their roles and what they’re trying to protect you from.

At the core of IFS is the belief that you also have a Self — a calm, wise, centered inner presence that can lead and heal your system.
From this place of Self, we can help wounded parts release burdens, find relief, and take on new, healthier roles.

Healing happens not by pushing parts away, but by listening to them and helping them feel safe, seen, and supported. I

Internal Family Systems (IFS) has proven to be an evidence-based approach for treating trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and chronic pain, with growing research supporting its effectiveness in improving emotional regulation, self-awareness, and overall well-being.

+ What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a complementary mind-body practice that uses muscle monitoring, alongside principles drawn from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and other approaches, to explore stress and support greater awareness of the connections between your body, emotions and experiences.

Our body holds a wisdom of its own. It responds to our experiences, carries the imprint of stress and emotion, and can reveal aspects of ourselves that we may not yet consciously recognise. Sometimes, our bodies signal what our minds have learned to overlook, suppress or push aside. For example, saying yes when everything within you wants to say no, or continually putting others first while neglecting your own needs, can create an inner conflict between what you feel and how you act. Within an energetic framework, this misalignment can disrupt the natural flow of energy, leaving you feeling drained, tense or disconnected from yourself.

Over time, these patterns of stress can manifest physically — as stress, tension, overwhelm, confusion, pain, digestive issues, or sleep disturbances. These are not random symptoms; they are your body’s messages telling you that something is out of alignment. Many of our responses and patterns operate outside our conscious awareness, which can make them difficult to understand or change through willpower alone.

How does Kinesiology work?Kinesiology uses muscle monitoring alongside knowledge of the body's energetic systems, including the meridians described in Traditional Chinese Medicine, to help reveal and explore underlying stress, imbalance and patterns.

This gentle, non-invasive technique involves applying light pressure to a specific muscle, typically in the arm, while observing changes in its response. Within kinesiology, these responses are used to help identify areas to explore and guide the session towards what may support greater balance and wellbeing.

Once identified, corrections are applied to restore harmony. These may include acupressure, breathing techniques, emotional stress release, flower essences—or be combined with other modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) or Timeline Therapy when appropriate.

Kinesiology helps us explore what lies beneath the surface, uncover patterns we may not consciously recognise, and understand ourselves at a deeper level.

Every session is completely tailored to your needs in the moment.

I hold a comprehensive Diploma of Kinesiology and a Diploma of Mind-Body Medicine from the College of Complementary Medicine.

I am trained in specialised kinesiology approaches, including LEAP (Learning Enhancement Acupressure Programme), focused on brain integration and stress management.

+ What is TimeLine Therapy ?

Timeline Therapy® is a transformative technique that works with your unconscious mind to help release unresolved emotions and limiting beliefs from the past.

By accessing your internal “timeline,” it allows you to
uncover and clear the root causes of emotional patterns—such as fear, sadness, anger, or guilt—without having to relive the original experience.

This approach is highly effective for creating emotional clarity, breaking free from old programming, and opening up new possibilities for how you think, feel, and respond.

Many clients experience a sense of emotional lightness and deeper self-understanding after just a few sessions

+ What happens during a session?

Before we begin, I review your intake information to gain an initial understanding of your concerns and what you would like support with. Whether we meet in person or via Zoom, we start by exploring your current situation, needs and goals. Together, we decide how best to approach our work, drawing on the therapeutic methods and tools that feel most appropriate for you.

These may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Timeline Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), or other tools selected specifically for you.

Throughout the process, I explain the approaches we use and welcome your questions and preferences. Your needs may change over time, so we remain flexible and adapt our sessions accordingly.

Session formats :

+ Counselling sessions (60 minutes) are mainly conversational and take place while you sit comfortably in a chair. We explore your concerns, thoughts and emotions, drawing on therapeutic approaches suited to your needs.

+ Somatic psychotherapy and kinesiology sessions (90 minutes) combine therapeutic conversation with body-based work. Part of the session may take place with you fully clothed, lying comfortably on a massage table. Depending on your needs and preferences, this may include somatic techniques, guided visualisation, kinesiology and energy-based approaches. These sessions offer space to explore both emotional and bodily experiences at a deeper level.

Note: The formats are a guide to help you choose what feels right for you. Every session is tailored to your individual needs and may draw on a range of therapeutic approaches.

+ What to expect after a session ?

Most people feel uplifted, lighter and more connected to themselves after a session.

After Counselling Sessions:
Counselling sessions often provide emotional clarity, mindset shifts, and increased self-awareness. You may leave with specific tools, strategies, or an action plan to help you move forward. The changes can feel subtle at first, but they often unfold and deepen over the following days.

After Somatic Therapy & Kinesiology Sessions:
Integrative sessions involve deeper energetic work, which may continue to process in the body over several days.

It’s common to feel lighter or more in flow, but also occasionally tired or emotional as the body recalibrates (and the flight/fight stress eases).

These "detox" symptoms are temporary and a normal part of releasing stored stress or energetic blocks.

You may also receive intuitive insights or clarity in the days following the session. Supporting your body with rest, hydration, and nourishing practices will assist in the integration.

+ How many sessions will I need?

A single session can offer valuable insights, a new perspective or a sense of relief. However, lasting change often takes time, particularly when we are working with patterns that have developed over many years.

The stress, emotional patterns, and limiting beliefs you carry have often been building for years. They’re not just thoughts and feelings—they’re also deeply rooted in your body and brain’s wiring, influencing how you automatically react and cope.

That’s why creating lasting change takes
patience, repetition, nurturing, and ongoing support to help rewire those patterns at their core.

The number of sessions varies depending on:
The nature of your concerns and how long you’ve been experiencing them.
Your intentions and goals for our work together.
Your personal circumstances and readiness for change.
Your capacity to practise and integrate new tools into your everyday life.

To support lasting progress,
I focus on teaching and sharing practical tools you can use at home—empowering you to reinforce positive change between sessions and maintain your progress for the long term.

+ How do I know which therapy or approach is right for me?

Choosing the right therapy can feel overwhelming, but I take the guesswork away from you. By understanding your unique story, challenges, and goals, I'll recommend the best approach—or combination of approaches—that will best support your healing and growth.

I explain each option clearly and welcome your input, so together we create a plan that feels comfortable and effective for you.
If you prefer to focus on just one method, like kinesiology only, that’s absolutely fine too.

Therapy is a collaborative journey, and if something doesn’t feel right, we adjust it along the way.
